Who Builds Your Structure Matters

A Backyard Building Should Be Built by Someone Accountable for the Outcome.

BlackRidge Structures builds Appalachian-inspired backyard structures on-site, led by founder Edwin Shackelford and his family crew — not delivered as prefab buildings and not handed off to an anonymous shed crew.

Edwin brings 35+ years of commercial construction management, Army veteran discipline, and hands-on field accountability to every structure we build. That background matters when your project depends on proper site judgment, framing discipline, moisture control, roof performance, clean sequencing, and a finished building that looks like it truly belongs on your property.

  • U.S. Army Veteran
  • 35+ Years Construction Experience
  • Commercial Construction Background
  • Family-Led Structural Work
  • Built On-Site

Built On Your Property

No prefab drop-off. Each structure is built on-site to fit your access, setting, intended use, and property character.

Family-Led Structural Work

The main structure is built by Edwin and his family crew. Accountability stays close to the project from layout through final walkthrough.

Transparent Pricing First

You can compare real model pricing and upgrade paths before you commit. No pressure. No hidden-fee games. No mystery quote process.

Best premium presentation method: use six consistent close-up images, all shot straight-on, all cropped to the same 4:3 ratio, and all showing enough surface area for the actual siding profile to read clearly. Avoid circular crops and avoid full shed photos here — this section works best when it behaves like a true material comparison panel.

Construction Standard

What’s Built Into Every Appalachian Classic

This is the core Appalachian Sheds Inc. standard in its cleanest form — a practical, premium backyard structure with an entry awning, steep roof presence, durable siding choices, real window-and-door function, and the construction discipline needed for long-term use.

Builder accountability matters: Edwin and his sons build every shed. No subcontractors on structural work. Ever.

Roof System

Steep-Pitch Roof with Entry Awning.

The Appalachian Classic’s 7/12 roof pitch sheds water and snow cleanly while giving the structure stronger visual presence than a low utility roof. The entry awning frames the doorway with architectural intention, adds weather protection at the threshold, and gives the model a more finished, residential feel from the front approach.

Foundation & Floor

6×6 PT Beams. 3/4″ 7-Ply Plywood Floor.

The floor system starts with YellaWood® 6×6 pressure-treated grade beams placed over a 10-mil moisture barrier. 2×6 pressure-treated floor joists are set 16″ on center with a double center beam, and the subfloor is 3/4″ 7-ply pressure-treated plywood — built for storage, workshop loads, office use, and long-term daily function. No OSB. Ever.

Walls & Structure

Engineered Trusses. 6″ Protective Overhangs.

Steel-plated engineered roof trusses, 2×6 kiln-dried wall studs set 16″ on center, interlocking double top plates, pressure-treated wall sheathing, and 6″ overhangs help the Classic stay square, dry, and dependable through Cincinnati and Tri-State weather. The structure is built for durability, not temporary backyard placement.

Siding & Exterior

Six Siding Types. Up to 14 Colors.

LP SmartSide® Panel, Roseburg DuraTemp, Board & Batten, Pine T&G, Georgia Pacific Vinyl Lap, and LP SmartSide Lap siding options give the Appalachian Classic broad design flexibility. Exterior styles can be matched to the property, the surrounding landscape, and the intended use of the building.

Windows & Doors

Aluminum Windows. Fiberglass Door. Real Daylight.

Aluminum-framed single-hung windows with locks, removable screens, and decorative shutters bring in balanced daylight and cross-vent comfort. Aluminum screened louver vents support additional airflow, while the low-maintenance fiberglass entry door includes heavy-duty hardware and a keyed lock for dependable everyday use.

Warranty

30-Year Structural. 50-Year Siding.

Every build includes a 30-year Appalachian Sheds Inc. structural warranty, along with applicable manufacturer warranties for siding, roofing, windows, doors, and related components. Exterior wood surfaces must be sealed, painted, stained, or clear-coated within 30 days to maintain warranty protection.

Best next step: evaluate the Appalachian Classic as the foundation model for the lineup — simple, practical, durable, and upgrade-ready. The strongest result comes from choosing the right size, siding type, entry orientation, window placement, and site location together.

Talk to the Builder.
Not a Sales Rep.

Edwin picks up the phone. His sons handle the build. No subcontractors touch the structural work, and no one will push you toward a shed that doesn't fit your property, your access, or the way you actually plan to use it. One honest conversation — before anything gets built, before anything gets signed.

Straight answers before anything gets built.

We'd rather walk you away from the wrong shed than sell you one that doesn't fit. That's not a sales line — it's how Edwin has operated across 35+ years of commercial construction, and it's the only way we know how to work.

  • Built On-Site Designed for real backyard access and finished where it belongs.
